Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Tessera ("Tessera", "we", "us") handles information in connection with the Tessera website at gettessera.io (the "Site") and the Tessera software application (the "Software").

Summary: Tessera is self-hosted software. Your monitoring data and user accounts stay on your own servers, and we never receive them. We only handle limited information related to our website, your purchase, and license activation, as described below.

1. Who We Are

Tessera provides self-hosted server and uptime monitoring software for Windows. For any privacy question, contact us at legal@gettessera.io.

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy is an independent controller of the payment and billing information you provide at checkout; please review the Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy for how they handle it.

2. Information We Handle

a. Information you send through the Site

When you submit our contact or early-access form, we collect the name, email address, and any message you provide, so we can respond to you. To protect the form from abuse we use Cloudflare Turnstile, and our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard technical data such as your IP address in server logs and for rate limiting. Form messages are delivered to us by email through Resend.

b. Purchase information

When you buy a Subscription, Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment and billing details as Merchant of Record. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We do receive limited order information from Lemon Squeezy (such as your email address, the product and Tier purchased, and your License Key) so we can fulfill and support your purchase.

c. License activation and validation

When the Software activates or validates your License Key, it sends the License Key and a hashed machine fingerprint (derived from your machine's identifier and hostname) to Lemon Squeezy's licensing service. This binds a License Key to one machine and confirms your Subscription is active. This information is processed by Lemon Squeezy; Tessera can view associated license and order records through the Lemon Squeezy dashboard.

d. Update checks

By default, the Software periodically requests a small version file hosted on our website to check whether a newer version is available. This request reveals your server's outbound IP address to our hosting provider (Cloudflare) in standard server logs. No other information about your installation is sent. You can disable update checks entirely in the Software's settings.

e. Information we do NOT receive

Your monitored targets, check results and history, dashboards, user accounts and passwords, and alert configuration all remain on the server where you install the Software. Alerts you configure are sent using your own email (SMTP) or webhook settings. Tessera does not collect, receive, transmit, or have access to this data.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we handle to: respond to your inquiries; fulfill and support your purchase; issue and validate License Keys; maintain the security and integrity of the Site and licensing; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Sharing

We share information only with service providers that help us operate, and only as needed:

• Lemon Squeezy - payments, subscriptions, and licensing (Merchant of Record).
• Cloudflare - website hosting, bot protection (Turnstile), and network security.
• Resend - delivery of contact-form emails to us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

5. Data Retention

We retain contact-form messages and order-related information for as long as needed to respond to you, provide and support the product, and meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Lemon Squeezy retains purchase records under its own policies.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, or to object to it, under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any right, email legal@gettessera.io and we will respond as required by applicable law. Because much of the information at checkout is held by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record, some requests may be directed to them.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because the Software is self-hosted, the security of your installation and its data is your responsibility.

8. International Users

Tessera is based in the United States, and the limited information we handle is processed in the United States and by the service providers listed above. If you access the Site or use the Software from outside the United States, you understand your information may be processed in the United States.

9. Children

The Site and Software are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is posted at gettessera.io with a revised "Last updated" date.
